A Perfect Day

A perfect day doesn't have to be perfect every moment. It's how I feel at the end of the day, after I put Elias and Micah to bed.

I've a horrible nightmare about our photo session last night after hearing horrible stories from my "mommies of 2 years old twins" friends. Needless to day, I am tired this morning. In addition to the great morning start, I also have a sinus headache. Knowing I'll have a long day with the boys, I decided to take an Ibuprofen. I casually eat something I found on the kitchen counter, and then quickly swallow the pill. Before the medication does its magic, I'm having an upset stomach. I guess I don't have enough food before taking the pill. Thankfully, Preston is off all this week. So I curled up on the couch, attempting to rest, but immediately get set on by two restless monkeys. Preston finally get them to leave me alone. Elias come by to check up on me and pat on my shoulder from time to time. He's so sweet! Micah eventually can't take the "separation" any longer. These are the moments that make an imperfect day perfect.

We eat as a family at lunch and dinner time, which is hard to come by when Preston comes home around their bedtime during the weekdays and busy-errands-running weekends. The boys eat much better when all four of us sit down at the table and eat together. These are the moments that make an imperfect day perfect.

The photo session is short and uneventful, no screaming and no runaway kids, and we do have some cute pictures.

The perfect day wraps up with lots of kisses and a nice story time of Thomas' ABC Book and Where does God live?

These are the moments that make my imperfect day PERFECT :)

My Crazy Day

I don't think I have ever been so out of control with the boys since they were born. I mean, sure motherhood can be stressful from stage to stage, but today...the whining and the screaming on a cloudy fall day just got me. They are usually really good at taking turn being 'bad,' but for some reasons (whether it's the terrible two stage or feeling sick or both?) they are being 'bad' together. Two 21 months old boy screaming, crying, whining ALL DAY. I seriously think I was going crazy for a minute today. Thankfully, there is an quick easy fix to let out some of my stressful steam. A long loud scream into the pillow is all I needed. And Thomas the Tank Engine is 'really useful' to calm them down the time between after dinner and before bath. Why do you think I can write this post before 6pm?!?

What's happening at 20th month

Elias and Micah are really picking up words quickly the past couple weeks. They're also putting words together like big car, no big car, etc... Can't you tell that they LOVE cars? They'll also attempt to jump when you say bunny or show them a picture of bunny. They'll ask to put on music and dance and clap to certain songs. Very cute!

New words...a few that I remembered they've learned :P
moon
boat
apple
popo (that what they call my mom)
yiyi (that what they call my sister)
neigh neigh (for horse)
juice
out
mommy +) (Elias can say mommy, not just mama...it sounds so much sweeter)
bee

oh yeah, they took my make-up bag out of my purse today and tried to put make-up on.

Elias got the lipstick, and Micah got the blush...Thank goodness they didn't know how to twist yet. I was scared but found it funny ^_^

New Words

After spending almost 3 weeks with cousin Caden, who is 3 months older and knows more words than Elias and Micah, they also picked up a few new vocabs (not in chronological order ):

mama (YAY! Elias can finally says mama!)
bubble
sit (and point at where they want you to sit)
'bee!' ('wee!' for sliding down the slide)
more (they'll sign and say the word together)
choo-choo
shoe
'bis' for bus (now any 'car' that's really big is a bus to them)
teeth (for brushing their teeth)
抱 (pick me up, mom!)

At the Park

Elias and Micah's energies skyrocketed all of a sudden. They grew (developmentally) so much the past two weeks. There were more recognizable words. They're having a blast doing all sort of 'dangerous' acts and giving me a heart attack every time. It's exhausted trying to keep up with two 18-month old boys.

A friend/neighbor brought us to this park 20 mins away from us last week. They had a great time playing in the park. It's amazing what they can do and know what to do the first time.

Preston and I took them there again this afternoon. Elias wanted out from the stroller as soon as he saw the park.

At 18 Month

Time flies. Elias and Micah are 18 months old! They're growing and learning every day. By now, they CAN, but don't always say the following words:
1. uh-oh (new favorite word)
2. car (they say it with a Bronx accent, and everything with wheels is a car)
3. that (more like dat)
4. clock
5. duck
6. 奶

7.

8.
飽 *first word/they meant to pray at mealtime
9.

10.

11.

12.

13.

14. daddy/dada
15. cow/mmmm/mooo...
16. dog/woo woo
17. cat
18. bye-bye

that's all I can think of right now.

Elias and Micah are about the same weight and height as always. They are finally heavier than the cat, about 22 lbs! Elias weights 6 oz more than Micah, and Micah is 1/4 inch taller than Elias. They're on the smaller size but growing healthily nonetheless :)

Accomplishments at 16 Months Old

Elias and Micah have accomplished quite a bit in May. Other than saying those few words and signs, they're talking among themselves more than ever. I love when Elias talks in his stern voice with Micah, as if he was lecturing Micah. It's too funny. As in my last entry, they are mastering the two shapes sorter toys. They have been using their forks a little bit earlier this month, and over the Memorial Day weekend, with lots encouragement, they've learned to feed themselves with a spoon (without flipping it over)!!!

I think they're still kind of tiny for their age, but they've sure grown since the last doctor visit at 15 months. Definitely taller and heavier! They have stopped nursing at 15 months and are not drinking 2 cups of whole milk/day. Now, between the two of them, they can finish a gallon in 4-5 days. If you do the math, that's 1.6 - 2 cups/day =)

They're so active now and between the two of them, I really can't let them out of my sight. And I seriously Micah has inherited my clumsiness. I know he's a baby, but he runs into things and getting hurt way more often than Elias.

Just yesterday, I FORGOT TO CLOSE THEIR BEDROOM DOOR YESTERDAY AFTER THEY WOKE UP FROM THEIR NAP, AND MICAH'S HAND GOT CAUGHT BETWEEN THE DOOR HINGES!!! Thankfully, he's alright. Actually, he didn't even cry for more than a minute, and then he was busy wiggling his way out of my arms to get into some other 'trouble.' His little hand was BRUISED. I was freaking out and obviously felt AWFUL. I'm glad he's fine though. Poor Micah :-( Bad mommy.

Shapes

The boys have been working really hard on their shapes for the past two weeks, and I'm proud to say that they can match all the shapes into the shape sorter really well by now. It's amazing watching them learn, struggle, and succeed!!! Good job boys!

*the card reader on the computer is not working at the moment, so until Preston fixes it, I can't post any new pictures.

16 months 2 weeks

It's so funny how many things seem to be happening overnight with the boys. One morning they wake up and feel heavier than last night when I put them down to bed. One minute they aren't talking and suddenly they're picking up all sort of words and signs. Elias can say more words than Micah, but either of them can say mama or dada. oh well, you can't force speech. I'm just happy to hear all kind of baby talk and proud to say that the boys are definitely bilingual! oh and they can sign a few words, and the best thing is, they modify a few thing to make the signs their own. haha~

Multiples Group Playdate at My Gym

My multiples group has a playdate at My Gym today. Elias and Micah are hanging on to me and crying most of the time we are there. By the time they're sorta warmed up to the place, it's almost time to go home.

I tried the slide, trampoline, and obstacle course, but the ball pit is the only thing they will play with. As you can see, Micah doesn't want to be in it, so he's picking up all the balls which Elias has threw out. Good team work boys!

Doesn't Elias look like Janice when she was a baby in this picture?

15 months

oh my, oh my....Elias and Micah are 15 months old already! They've been walking for about two weeks now. They're like little drunks when they walk. They can wave bye bye and sometime say bye bye.

We went to their check up yesterday. They felt out of the growth chat at the last check up...=P they're back on the chart this time around, but barely. haha~ my babies are so tiny.

They're both 29'' tall, and for the first time since birth, Micah is heavier than Elias...by 4oz.
Elias is 20lb 8oz and Micah is 20 lb 12oz. Our cat is still heavier than them individually.

The boys think it's funny to throw everything there. haha~

Blueberries

The boys love fruit. They get that from my dad.

I saw some huge blueberries the other day at Trader Joe's. 24oz for $5.99 you can't bet that! I let the boys tried some yesterday. At first, they weren't so sure about those little blue/purple things, but they did eat them all. I gave them some more today and they LOVE it. They kept asking for more. They were very excited about it, too. After three servings of blueberries, I had to cut them off. I'm telling you, they must have ate a pint each!

Finally Walking!!!

Micah has been cruising for months now while Elias can, he much rather you carry him around or he crawls. I get together with a friend who has twin girls last Wednesday. One of her girls has been walking for a month now. Elias comes home that afternoon, decides he'll give walking a try. By the weekend, he's doing pretty well =) So now I have two little men attempt to walk around the house. Very cute.

Elias "first" piano performance

Duet with Ester (commentary with Mrs. Ma)

A Whole New Year

It's probably too late for happy new year, but not too late for a happy Chinese new year. This year is the year of ox.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, the boys and I got some sort of stomach flu. The boys were vomiting all over. My man have to clean up after all of us and now he won't drink apple juice. The reason for that? Digested apple flavor pedialite...lol~ As soon as we thought we're all better, the whole family got sick again. Preston got a fever, I got a sinus and ear infection, and the boys luck out with just a cold. Luckily, we're all better by Christmas.

The boys had their many first over the holidays.
They celebrated their first birthday, tasted cake for the first time, opened their first Christmas presents, and went to the Christkindlemarket =)

I can't believe they're already 13 months old!!!
