Babies are Here!!!

The twins have finally arrived on 12/23/07, Sunday at 6:26pm and 6:31pm. Elias Hye-Yun was first, and then Micah Hym-Yun. Elias is home with us now, but Micah needs to stay in NICU for awhile. We're not sure when he can come home yet. We'll keep you posted. Just a quick update for now.

I Made It to Week 35!!!

Went to my doctor yesterday. I have dilated 2 cm. They seems very comfortable in there though. I'm very anxious as the day of inducement is getting closer. I'm not sure if I'll need it yet at this point. This morning I'm spotting a tiny bit. So maybe it won't be long before they come. We'll see. I'm closely monitoring I guess.

I'm so excited cuz my best friend is coming today, and so is grandma and my aunt's family. The rest of the relatives will arrive from Canada over the weekend. There will be tons of people around when these two are born.

Fire Drill

My calves have been cramping since Monday night. So this is what happened:

The fire alarm went off on Monday. First, I didn't even know we had one in the building =P Second, I just got out of the shower, hair still wet, not sure what's going on, so I was freaking out. I put sth on and do what ppl do when the fire alarm goes off-I head downstairs. Eleven (11) flights of stairs! I've been on bed rest since 24 weeks. I have gain almost 50 lbs. My legs were cramping when I got to the 5th floor. When I got to the lobby, the doorlady was like, "what are you doing down here? you should have call me first. I would have tell you to stay put." Not very bright of me.

34 weeks

I made it to 34 weeks. I'm now 1cm dilated. The doctor said anytime now. He has scheduled an inducement on the 23rd if the babies haven't arrived by then. 10 days! Preston is SoOoooo stressed out. I guess he's not ready for the reality. I wished there's something I can do to make him less stress. I can only try to hold on to these two for as long as I can, but really, do I have a say in it?!?

33 weeks

I made it to 33 weeks =) I'll be really happy if they can make it to 35. They're getting bigger each day and my tummy are stretching along with them. It can be painful sometimes and those stretch marks are so ulgy! But I just love talking to them when they're moving around.

I went for check up today and did a non-stress test. Babies are doing well. My cervix is 50% thinned out and dilated just a little bit (maybe 1/2 cm) . The doctor is aiming for Christmas Day!

Week 32

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and had a lot of turkey to eat!

Preston and I have moved into our new place, so things have been hectic. I went to my 32 weeks check up and ultrasound today. Everything looks good, so I'm happy about that. The baby on top is now 4lbs 1oz; the little guy on the bottom is 3lbs 10oz. They both grew over a pound since 28 weeks! They're bigger than I though. So that's good. As for me, I've gained 42lbs since I found out I'm pregnant! My ankles, toes, and fingers looks like they belong to a troll ~scary~ and not to mention stretch marks....sigh. Any good recommendation for stretch marks cream, ladies???

My ob/gym is going to Hawaii after Christmas day! So I'm hoping they'll be ready (over 5 lbs) to come out before he leaves because I honestly don't know what I'll do if they decided to come while he's awhile!

Babies Shower

Thank you Cindy for hosting the shower! Janice, Mina, & Sharon- thank you for helping. I had a blast! =)

The shower made me realized how quickly these little ones will come. I'm already 30 weeks. Praise the Lord that they're still in me. Each day that they're still in me is a huge blessing from our Heavenly Father.

Beginning of My Third Trimester

As I began my third trimester of my pregnancy, my mood changes drastically. It's very noticeable. Preston can attest to that 100% =P Mood swing is an everyday thing now...I'm crying every other day if not everyday.

Well, just two more months right?

Outtie & 28 weeks update

My belly button just popped out over night!!! The inevitable has come! This is SO WEIRD to have an outtie! Thank goodness it will go back in after the babies are here.

Yesterday was my 28 weeks check up & ultrasound. The babies are getting bigger and therefore it's harder to see them through ultrasound cuz it's kinda crowded in there. They're both 2 lb 8 oz. The babies are on track, but mommy gained a bit more than she should. oops~ I blame my grandma (shh~ don't tell her) Her cooking is awesome! Preston and I love her cooking, but she also uses a bottle of cooking oil a week on average. She's been here for 3 weeks now. You do the math. I'm going back in 2 weeks. Hopefully, I'll slowly get back on track... somehow.

Coming Early? Oh Nooooo!!!

I've been dreaming of preterm labor a lot lately, and I was freaking out (in my dreams). Though it's only dreams, it still worries me. The twins are at higher risk than all singleton babies for all sort of genetic disorders, birth defects, and prematurity. As helpless as I feel, the only thing I can do for them is to eat well and rest well. Sound easy?!? Yet 'house arrest' is not fun, and somehow make eating well and resting well difficulty. Since I'm not doing much, I always want to eat junk food. Since I'm resting all day long, I always want to do something (like cleaning, which I'm not supposed to). Yet I know I should cherish the time because once the twins are here, I'll never have quite time to eat or rest.

Week 25 & Week 26

Didn't update for 2 weeks.
Well, I can feel the babies' movements a lot more now, sometimes they hurt. Preston can feel them, too. It's really cool but it can get annoying. Sometimes they sleep a lot longer than usual, I would try to wake them up just so make sure they're okay. It's scary not knowing how they're doing in there. I'm looking forward to next week doctor's appointment and ultrasound =). Now I'm just very moody, and being on 'house arrest' doesn't help.

The Beginning of Bed Rest

23 weeks 6 days:

Had a little scared today. I was cramping on the way to church, so we went home and called the doctor. The doctor told me to go to the hospital for a check up. We were there for more than 4 hours... They think I might not be hydrated enough. Apparently, dehydration can cause contractions or contraction-like symptoms :P Oops~ The doctor said I should minimize all activities now, put up the feet to let the blood flow toward the uterus. I guess my bed rest has official began.

I'm THIS Big!

How big will I get?!?

Getting Heavy

Week 22:

I didn't have to get up to pee in the middle of the night the past two nights. I think they might have moved up a bit, and not sitting on my bladder anymore. It's really nice, but they're getting really heavy. I notice breathing is a bit more difficult when I'm sitting down. It's getting quite uncomfortable. I'm as big as someone who are thirty something weeks, AND I STILL HAVE 15 MORE WEEKS TO GROW!!!! @_@

Experience the Lives Within

I've been feeling the movement of the babies since last week (21 week). I wasn't sure at first, but it has been pretty constant. It's a strange, yet amazing feeling =) I just can't help but to laugh sometimes when I feel them move. Though the last two days I've been experiencing some cramming. I think I'll have to keep my "activities" down even before 24weeks.

Shedding New Light

I went to another doctor today for a second opinion. He was actually my first choice to begin with. I heard a lot of good thing about him, but he's affiliated with another hospital that much further away from Naperville. But after today's appointment, I think I'll transfer to him. He's very personable and thorough about everything. You can tell that he's very knowledgeable. He actually spend more than 2 mins with you, and tried to explain everything, instead of throwing terms at you.

He told me not to worry about the soft marker since there are no other markers that accompany with the short ratio of arms and legs bones. He said if other markers present the next time, then we would be alarmed, but not at his point. Also, he reminded me that because I'm Asian, the babies may take on to the Asian characteristics even if dad is Caucasian. I hope they'll be tall like Preston though :P Hopefully, they're catching up.

Also, for the twin-to-twin transfusion problem that the fetal medicine doctor told me last time, he said the likelihood of that is very low or non-existing because the babies are in different sac (each baby has his own water bag), which the so-called specialist knew about it.

The only concern he has for me right now is that the umbilical cord is not centered at the placenta, which my previous doctor failed to mention it even though it was on my chart! This doctor said the umbilical cord could easily rip during labor. If it tore during labor, the first baby could bleed to death, which at that point I'll need an emergency c-section. However, if it didn't tear during the first baby, then the second baby would be fine because he can get the second one out much quick since at that point, I'll be done laboring. He is also willing to work with me as much as he can so that I can have a vaginal birth. He said he can do that as long as the baby closest to the cervix is head down, even if the other one is breach. I was much relieved today after seeing him.

Praise God for his reinsurance and for providing a better doctor for me and the babies. Though please continue to keep the babies in your prayers that they'll be healthy. I think I'm going to transfer to this doctor even if the hospital is further away. I'm much more comfortable with him =)

God is Good

I'm truly blessed friends and families. Thank you for all your prayer support and encouragement.

Preston and I took some time to pray before the Lord last night. I'm very much at peace right now. Praise the Lord. I know that He is faithful, and He'll not forsake His children. No matter what happen, God will provide.

Please continue to lift us up in your prayers. I'll go back to the perinatologist in 4 weeks.

Week 19

I went to the perinatology, or maternal fetal medicine, today. That's where I'd my "special" ultrasound (and no, it's not 3-d). The two buggers weren't too cooperative. They kept hiding their faces. The Doc said everything looks good, except for the head-to-limbs ratio is at the shorter end of the normal range. That is a soft-marker for down syndrome. And because they're identical (yes, my doc and this doc both agreed that they're identical and boys), they either both have down syndrome or don't have. I'll go back in 4 wks to check. I've decided not to do amniocentesis. PLEASE KEEP US IN YOUR PRAYERS!
-pray that the babies will be healthy
-pray that the marker is just transient and it will go away the next time I go back
-pray for Preston and I to have strength and keep our faith in the Lord as we're going through all these.

As parents, you just want your children to be healthy. Thank you for all your prayers!

Backache

I can really feel my backache a bit more now that the babies are bigger. Seems like everything I do makes my back aches now.

After all the rain that came through this week, my parents' basement is finally kinda flooded. No big damage, but because my parents have LOTS of stuff down there, it's sort of a mess. Now I have all the excuse to throw away all my dad's junks! Yes!~ Except, I can't help much... Preston will have to do most of the clean up. My parents really picked a good time to not be here :/

Week 18

I went to my check up this morning.

Both babies were quite active today, kept moving around, when the doctor was listening to their heart beats. Boys...I'm going to have more than a handful after they're born.

<-- That's me this week, after gaining total of 18 lbs!!! Thank goodness, it's all in my tummy.

Pass It On

I need more maternity clothes!!! If anyone has any to spare, please pass it along this way. Thank You SoOOoo Much!!!! I really hate shopping...I got some a few weeks ago, but I can use a few more pieces.

Any suggestions and advices, please pass it on, too. I feel so clueless...especially being a new mother of two, at the same time!

Oh, and ladies only:
any moms out there know where I can get maternity bras???

Catching Up To Wk 17

Finally, here's a blog for our babies!!!!

Neither Preston or I are much of a blogger. But by requests, we're setting one up for the babies.

To start with beginning, we found out that I'm pregnant sometime in May. It was definitely a surprise o.0!!!

3 weeks later, we got another surprise. There are TWO of them in there. I'm having twins!!!! No one in our families have multiples, or so we thought...we found out from my mom, who found out from her sister, that her grandfather, my great grandfather, whom I never met, was one of a twin. His twin never survived though. I supposed the survival of multiple births are pretty low back in the days. But that's about it. The weird thing was I dreamed that it will be twins just couple days before the ultrasound. Freaky, eh?!?

I'm at wk17...I think. (I'm losing track already; the twins are really sucking up my memory :P)

The "all-day sickness" has finally subsided after the first trimester. Thank you God!!! Now I'm just super moody. I'll cry like it's the end of the world for the smallest thing. My poor hubby~ oh and I'm hungry like ALL the time.

Last Wednesday, we found that we're having two boys...Preston really really really wanted a girl, but hey, what are you gotta do. You just have to take what God gives you. We're just thankful that they're both doing well. One is actually quite active, too. My doctor is asking me to do a special ultrasound. Don't ask me what that special ultrasound is, cuz I haven't gone yet, so I dunno. I figure it would probably be one of those 3-D ultrasound. My doctor wants to take a better look of the placenta(s).

P.S. - my bellybutton is looking quite weird nowadays. thank goodness I'm not an outie yet and hopefully it won't :P

P.P.S.- Most of all, please keep us in your prayers! God Bless!!!!
